Social Media Case – Huawei
Project: Introduce the company to the social media environment. Develop the project by using tools like Twitter, YouTube and blog monitoring.
Objective: Follow up brand advertisement on new and non-traditional media outlets;
Advertise products and actions over Twitter and YouTube;
Interact with trade journalists and blogs to reach a selected audience and increase the qualified audience.
Strategy: Create corporate profiles for Twitter (@Huawei_Brasil), Flickr (Huawei_Brasil) and YouTube (Huawei_Brasil).
Announce these channels through links in press releases
Use these tools at events like Futurecom
Use Huawei equipment to cover Futurecom. Two mobiles were used to record executives’ attendance, and send messages over Twitter. Live and online coverage of the event.
Results: Number of people who followed up Huawei over Twitter as of November 13: 400 visitors over 7 months
Visits to the online picture album (Flickr) as of November 13: 300 hits
Pictures were downloaded during 7 months
Clipping increased by 220% in 2009
